Although we will never know whether this original technique was begun in Portugal or France, we do know that in 1957, a family
settled in Monte Siao, a village in central Brazil, and became the first to introduce white/blue porcelain. Their enterprise
totally changed the social and economic status of the region as they began to teach their technique to the village
inhabitants and hire them for above-average wages.
Each piece is artisanal. The base coat is white, with each petal being hand painted in a beautiful cobalt blue. And since they are
hand-painted, no two pieces are identical. Today, three generations later, the family is still following the same socially conscious path.
